“To achieve the impossible, it is precisely the unthinkable that must be thought.”[Tom Robbins] There are few things more rewarding than to share in the inspirational lives of young people who are defying the odds to achieve success through their committed dedication!
It is our privilege to acknowledge their achievements and share photos of a special day for two very special ladies!
Nozimanga Bonje and Modiehi Ntsane came to Eunice in 2010 in their Grade 10 year. They were identified by Mr Johan Volsteedt, headmaster of Grey College, at the ABSA Academy held at Grey every holiday and offered the opportunity to further their studies at Eunice High School in Bloemfontein.
They are both top achievers who received full academic colours at Eunice’s annual closing Function in September.
Nozi applied for Medicine at the UFS and Modiehi applied for B. Accounting for 2013.
Nozi and Modiehi have both experienced significant hardship and challenges and come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Mrs Mag Marais, deputy principal of Eunice high School and organizer of the annual Christmas Market, is acknowledging their achievements by sponsoring these girls for their matric farewell.
In the words of Mnr. Paul Cassar, Headmaster of Eunice: “It is a pleasure to testify to the ability and character of Nozi Bonje as a Eunice school-leaver. Having known Nozi throughout her senior secondary school career, I feel qualified to assess her as the ultimate survivor. Noticed by Mr Johan Volsteedt, headmaster of Grey College, at the Grey ABSA Holiday Academy, Nozi was given the opportunity of a full boarding bursary to study at Eunice High School. Her tragic set of family circumstances would normally have stifled the life out of most young teenagers. Not Nozi. Sure, she has natural ability in abundance, but Nozi has an amazing spirit – a remarkable ability to respond to heart ship with the utmost motivation and dedication. Nozi has been an inspiration to Eunice, its principal, its staff and its girls.”
Mnr Cassar : “Having known Modiehi since she came to Eunice in very special circumstances in the beginning of her Grade 10 year, I feel qualified to assess her as a wonderfully academic, highly intelligent young teenager with a sparkling personality and a strong desire to be the very best she can be. Modiehi came to Eunice via the Grey College ABSA Academy from Hentie Cilliers at Virginia. She was identified as a highly motivated and competent Grade 9 student. Through Mr Johan Volsteedt, headmaster of Grey College and myself, we offered her a full bursary at Eunice.”
It has been a privilege for Phototalk to be part of these two young ladies’s matric Farewell. We are inspired by them and wish them both the best in their Matric exams!!
